Home Visits

Home visits are available on request for patients who are housebound, terminally ill or too ill to come to the surgery. We can see 6 or 7 patients in an hour at the surgery but only 2 or 3 patients on home visits. All requests for home visits will be assessed by a doctor.

If you do require a home visit, please telephone the surgery before 10.30am. This helps to avoid unnecessary delays as the doctors are able to plan their rounds. Routine visits may be done up to 3pm depending upon demand.

The doctor may sometimes phone you, suggest you make an appointment instead of visiting or arrange a transfer to hospital. If your request for a visit is urgent you can phone at any time.

We are always happy to visit at home patients who are housebound through disability or illness, but please bear in mind that we can generally see patients more promptly here at the practice, and that we have better facilities for examination.

Rashes and high temperatures do not preclude patients from coming to the practice, and will not endanger others, but please tell the receptionist when booking the appointment, and on arrival.

Please note that having no transport does not justify a home visit.
